Why You Should Never Stop Writing

As human beings, we are all born creative. We come to this world with clear mind, full of ideas. As children we are fearless. We express ourselves freely without worrying what others think. We scream, we shout, we cry, we laugh loudly, climbing the trees, making ourselves dirty. Overall, we are simply happy.

Then, naturally, years go by and things change. As a result, that creative spirit sooner or later vanish or become covered by everyday duties, different events and problems. We change, our spontaneity becomes something unwanted, something we might even feel ashamed of. We are adults after all and should behave like responsible and serious characters. We might even hear from our loved ones that we shall 'go and study', 'get a diploma', 'earn money for decent living', and so on.

Many natural born writers, actually, the vast majority of them, are sensitive creatures. We need the words of encouragement to spread our wings. If we hear something contrary to our inner beliefs and have no right support it is really tough to carry on. As a result, many of us give up our writing dream for long, sometimes even for years.

Now, the question is, are you a real writer? Do you feel anxious and incomplete without writing? Do you try to ignore that inner voice of yours that urge you to write? Do you feel like something was missing in your life? Do you need to do something that feeds your soul, not just your pocket?

Then, you are a writer.

No matter how much you deny it, how much insecure you feel about it, what others might say - you are a creative creature.

You have to carry on your personal task on this world. You are here to create, to write, to share stories with others.

You are here to make them smile, laugh, cry, sigh, feel excitement or, on a contrary, fear.

You create fictional world in which you are the master. You decide what is going to happen. Unlike in a real life, here you are in control.

You bring character to life and you either nourish or kill them. You make them love and hate each other. You make them fight, make love to each other and go separate ways if needed (unless you chose happily ever after).

The thing is, no matter what you create, it is something done exclusively by you - your brain, your memories, your imagination, your sensuality, your sensitivity, you ability to be anyone. Your own creation.

In real life, you might be a tired housewife, a cleaner, a pushover. You might be that guy that girls don't even notice. Or that woman from a poor family that struggled all her life to make ends meet.

When you write, you become who you want: a millionaire, a heiress, a great lover, spoiled playboy, silly model, an insane clown. The choice is your own.

Life is going to be tough. It always is. You will experience traumas, problems and stresses. That is for sure. You are going to suffer, both physically and mentally, you might even go through hell. That is a part of life, that is what it means to be a human being. Doesn't matter if you like it or not. It is just what it is.

The most important thing you need to remember is that is all can't break your spirit. Your imagination and creativity will always be with you. They are your hidden treasures that you might now appreciate enough at times.

But one day, they will knock to your door, saying: 'Where the hell have you been so long, you badass?'

You should never stop writing. And if you do, get back to it. Do it for you. Not for your husband, not for your mother, not for your kids. They will all have their demands towards you and this is fine. As long as you don't forget who you really are.

You are a writer. Write. Not for money. Not for fame. Not for recognition.

For your soul. The moments of creative bliss won't last forever. So do you.
